I got interested in metal detecting after getting “gold fever” from sluicing and panning for gold. Since then, I’ve spent countless hours exploring all kinds of locations with my metal detector, from parks and beaches to old homesteads and battlefields.
My favorite thing about metal detecting is the thrill of the hunt. You never know what you might find, and every discovery is a unique and exciting experience.
If you’re just starting out in metal detecting, my advice would be to do your research, invest in a good metal detector and essential equipment, and practice in a variety of locations to get a feel for the different signals and types of objects you might encounter.
